ALS People are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Mobile Waste Operative to join our team in Bury St Edmunds and cover multiple sites across Suffolk. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient collection, sorting, and disposal of waste materials. This position requires physical stamina and a keen eye for detail, as well as a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate waste collection vehicles and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Collect, sort, and dispose of various types of waste materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of waste materials from vehicles.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas to promote safety and efficiency.
- Report any issues or hazards encountered during operations to the supervisor promptly.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily operational targets.

Required: own transport to be able to travel to multiple sites
Hours:
- Winter: 08:45–16:15 with a 30-minute unpaid break
- Summer: 08:45–17:15, with Thursday finishing at 19:15
Shift Pattern:
- 5 days per week, including weekends
Mileage Pay:
- £0.55 per mile (first 5 miles per trip are unpaid)
Travel Time:
- Paid at £19.07 per hour if travel time exceeds 30 minutes per trip
Weekly pay
