New Directions Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEN provision in Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate education professional who is committed to supporting children and young people with special educational needs to achieve their full potential.
Working as part of a skilled and supportive team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences, supporting pupil development, and helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
As a HLTA within this SEN setting, you will:
- Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals, small groups, and whole classes when required.
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement personalised learning plans.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Assist in creating a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment.
- Support pupils in developing independence, confidence and social skills.
We are looking for a HLTA who has:
- HLTA status or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Previous experience working within an SEN environment.
- A strong understanding of a range of special educational needs and effective support strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
- A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
