Our Twyning office specialises in assisting agricultural businesses and is looking to recruit an Accounts Manager to join this specialist team.
You will be responsible for providing a high level of service to our agricultural clients, ensuring compliance and delivering strategic tax planning. Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience of working in an accountancy practice who has recent experience in working with farms and/or estates, although we are willing to consider candidates with transferable skills or experience. The role offers excellent opportunities for progression for ambitious candidates.
The role
The role is based in our Twyning Office, but with occasional travel to our offices in Pershore, Ledbury and Cheltenham, as well as travel to clients.
The role is full-time. However, we would consider applicants wishing to work 5 days per week but shorter hours (such as 9am to 3pm). This role focuses on compliance services for farms and agricultural businesses including accounts preparation for both incorporated and unincorporated businesses, personal and business tax compliance, and services associated with this.
Core Responsibilities:
· Review and prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, adhering to relevant accounting standards.
· Review and prepare personal and business tax returns, including corporation tax and VAT, ensuring accurate calculation of tax liabilities and timely submissions.
· Prepare accounts and business tax returns for larger/higher complexity clients.
Client Responsibilities:
- Attend client meetings.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, addressing queries and always corresponding in a professional manner.
Workflow Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day workflow, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
- Delegate tasks effectively and to the right team member.
Team Responsibilities:
- Supervise the team including dealing with queries, providing technical and systems on the job training, offering mentoring and coaching, helping them to develop etc.
- Ensure the team produce work in a timely manner, including monitoring their daily workflow, ensuring that work is completed on budget and that the team members complete the work in order of priority.
- Where applicable, attend appraisal meetings with staff that are supervised or provide comments for the appraisal process.
Other Responsibilities:
- Stay up to date with changes in accounting and tax regulations, ensuring the firm’s practices are always in compliance. Share technical knowledge with the team to support their development.
- Identify and suggest enhancements to processes and systems, contributing to the development of best practice solutions.
- Assist with development of systems.
The individual
Ideally the candidate will have traditional family values and be an excellent communicator, both with clients and our team.
The individual must have a high level of technical knowledge and experience, be able to work independently, be proactive, able to work under their own steam and show a high level of initiative. We are looking for a team player that can also coach and mentor our junior team members and assist with their career progression.
Other requirements:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent).
- Strong technical expertise in UK accounting, tax, and VAT regulations, with experience in managing complex issues and client matters.
- Proficiency in accounting software and tax preparation tools (IRIS and Xero preferred).
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with experience managing own tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships, emphasising exceptional service delivery.
This position will require some travelling between offices and to clients so a driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required.
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 (depending on experience/qualifications)
