Overview - OWN TRANSPORT IS REQUIRED
Join us as a Horse Care and General Yard Assistant. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with horses and contribute to the upkeep of the farm’s grounds, facilities, and equipment. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring the health and happiness of our horses while supporting the overall operation of our small on line sales business. Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for horses, including health checks, rug changes and monitoring their health and behaviour
- Assist with pasture management, including water trough cleaning, and maintaining clean grazing areas
- Support general duties such as packing and checking orders for dispatch
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks involving feed bags, hay bales, fencing materials, or other supplies needed around the yard
- Maintain accurate records of animal care activities, maintenance schedules, and inventory levels
Skills
- Knowledge of animal care practices specific to horses
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a farm environment
- Basic math skills for measuring feed quantities or calculating supplies needed
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail in maintaining safety standards across all tasks and be happy to work unsupervised
We are looking for someone reliable, with previous paid work experience of horse care. You will be required to take sole charge on the days you are here. We have 5 happy horses, they mostly live out 24/7, this role includes caring for their needs, and once the horse jobs are done, helping around the yard as required. Minimum of 8 hours per week, this can be increased to 15 hours per week for a suitable candidate. Friday or Saturday. Hours by arrangement. We may consider a student over 18 with suitable experience.
Pay: £12.75-£15.00 per hour
