Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated CYP (Child and Young Person) Counsellor to join our vibrant mental health team. In this role, you will provide vital emotional support and therapeutic interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health challenges. Duties
- Deliver confidential counselling sessions to children and young people, creating a safe space for expression and growth
- Develop, implement, and regularly review personalised care plans aligned with individual needs and goals
- Utilise strong communication skills to engage effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress notes, and care plans using IT systems designed for mental health documentation
- Collaborate with other professionals to coordinate holistic support strategies that address emotional, social, and developmental needs
- Provide guidance and support to families or caregivers to reinforce therapeutic progress at home or in community settings
- Monitor client progress through regular assessments and adapt approaches as necessary to ensure positive outcomes
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in counselling, psychology, social work or related fields
- Relevant member of a professional body such as BACP, BABCP, UKCP, HCPC, BPS etc.
- Proven experience in counselling or mental health support for children and young people
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly
- Proficiency in IT systems for documentation, case management, and communication purposes
- Knowledge of developing and implementing effective care plans tailored to individual needs
- Commitment to safeguarding principles and maintaining confidentiality at all times
