About the role
We're looking for a Chef/Cook to take charge of our kitchen. This is a solo role - you'll be the only person back there, running the whole thing your way, with the freedom to put your own breakfast and lunch dishes on the menu.
We'd rather hire someone with their own ideas than hand them a folder of recipes. If you've got dishes you're proud of, we want them on our menu.
We're a busy, friendly coffee house serving fresh food through the day. Because we're daytime only, this is a genuine Monday to Friday role - no evenings, no weekends. If you're an experienced cook looking to get your life back outside of work, this is a rare one.
You'll find us at 100 Berkshire Place, inside Arena Business Centre on Winnersh Triangle, just off the A329M between Reading and Wokingham. Free on-site parking, and Winnersh Triangle station is a short walk away.
What you'll be doing
- Running the kitchen single-handed, from morning prep through to close
- Creating and developing your own breakfast and lunch dishes
- Cooking everything fresh, to a consistently high standard
- Managing your own stock, ordering and waste
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with food hygiene standards
- Working closely with the front of house team
What we're looking for
- Solid experience as a chef or cook, and comfortable working on your own
- Your own ideas for breakfast and lunch dishes, and the confidence to put them on
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene (Level 2 certificate is a plus - we can support you to get it)
- Well organised, able to pace a full day and stay calm when it's busy
- Reliable and punctual - the kitchen is yours to run
What we offer
- 14.00 to 15.50 per hour, depending on experience
- Monday to Friday only - every weekend off
- Full-time, permanent contract, 36.5 hours a week
