Country Court is a Residential care provider dedicated to delivering outstanding residential care in a warm, safe, and welcoming environment. Our 34-bed residential care home provides high-quality care for older people, and we are looking for a reliable, proactive, and skilled Maintenance Operative to help ensure our home remains safe, comfortable, and well-maintained for our residents, visitors, and staff. The role description aligns with Country Court's maintenance responsibilities across its care homes.
About the Role
Working closely with the Home Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the home, ensuring the building, equipment, and grounds are maintained to the highest standards and comply with Health & Safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and general DIY tasks throughout the home.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance and statutory checks.
- Undertake basic plumbing, decorating, carpentry, and minor electrical repairs within your competency.
- Ensure fire safety equipment and emergency lighting checks are completed as scheduled.
- Maintain the home's gardens, pathways, fencing, and external areas.
- Liaise with external contractors and monitor the quality of their work.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and hazardous materials are stored safely in accordance with COSHH regulations.
- Report defects and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Support health and safety compliance, including water temperature checks, legionella monitoring, and environmental audits.
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues to minimise disruption to residents.
- Assist with room preparations and minor refurbishment projects.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in general building maintenance or property maintenance.
- Skilled in basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and general repairs.
- Knowledgeable about Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
- Able to work independently and manage their workload effectively.
- Friendly, approachable, and respectful when working around elderly residents.
- Flexible and willing to assist with occasional out-of-hours emergencies if required.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential. These expectations reflect common Country Court maintenance roles.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1 year's maintenance or handyman experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise work and solve problems.
- Basic IT skills for completing maintenance records.
- Right to work in the UK.
