Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and conscientious Cleaner to support the upkeep of our male-only supported living houses. The role is essential in maintaining a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for residents who may be vulnerable and present complex needs.
Due to the nature of the service and the requirement for lone working within male-only environments, this role is restricted to male applicants under the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9, Genuine Occupational Requirement).
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily and scheduled cleaning of communal areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and offices
- Ensure all areas meet required hygiene, health, and safety standards
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and in line with COSHH guidance
- Report maintenance issues, damage, or health and safety concerns promptly
- Work respectfully within a supported living environment, maintaining professional boundaries
- Follow organisational policies, including safeguarding, confidentiality, and lone working procedures
Person SpecificationEssential
- Male applicant (Genuine Occupational Requirement – Equality Act 2010)
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Good awareness of health and safety and infection control
- Reliable, trustworthy, and professional approach to work
- Ability to work in environments supporting individuals with complex needs
Desirable
- Previous cleaning experience (domestic, commercial, or care settings)
- Experience working in supported living, care, or similar environments
- Basic understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

- This role involves lone working
- A DBS check will be required
- Full induction and training will be provided
