Role Overview
This is a hands-on operational role supporting a variety of industrial cleaning, tank cleaning, confined space, waste management, and environmental service projects.
The successful candidate will undertake duties associated with:
- Tank cleaning operations
- High-pressure water jetting
- Confined space entry and rescue works
- Industrial cleaning activities
- Waste management operations
- Emergency spill response activities
- General site operational duties
This role requires individuals who are comfortable working in demanding industrial environments and who can maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.
The position is primarily based in the Hull and Immingham area, although nationwide travel and working away from home will be required depending on operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out tank cleaning activities on above and below ground vessels.
- Undertake confined space entry and rescue operations in accordance with site procedures and legislation.
- Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform industrial cleaning and waste management activities.
- Participate in spill response and environmental clean-up operations as required.
- Complete all job documentation, works paperwork, RAMS, and operational records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Liaise with supervisors regarding operational performance, site conditions, and potential opportunities for additional work.
- Communicate professionally with customer representatives to ensure works are completed in accordance with specifications and agreed procedures.
- Implement and follow Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Conduct dynamic risk assessments on site and stop work where safety or compliance concerns cannot be adequately controlled.
- Assist with the development and mentoring of less experienced operatives.
- Operate company vehicles, plant, and equipment for which suitably trained and authorised.
- Conduct vehicle, plant, and equipment inspections prior to use.
- Report defects immediately and complete all required defect reporting documentation.
- Ensure the security, maintenance, and cleanliness of company equipment, vehicles, and plant.
- Undertake all work in accordance with company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Working Hours
- Standard working week: 40 hours.
- Core hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.
- Significant overtime opportunities available.
- Participation in a standby/call-out rota is required.
- Candidates must be willing to work nights, weekends, Bank Holidays, and work away from home at short notice when operationally required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Confined Space Entry (CSE) certification.
- High Pressure Water Jetting certification.
- CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent.
- Breathing Apparatus (BA) experience or training.
- Previous experience working within industrial services environments.
- Tank cleaning experience on above and below ground vessels.
- Man-entry and confined space tank cleaning experience.
- Knowledge of waste management, hazardous materials handling, and environmental compliance.
- Experience working to RAMS and site safety procedures.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Strong communication skills and professional attitude.
- Full UK driving license.
Desirable Qualifications
- B1 (3.5 tonne van) towing license.
- 7.5 tonne vehicle entitlement.
- Additional industrial services or environmental certifications.
- Previous experience working within waste management, industrial cleaning, or environmental services sectors.
What We Offer
- £14.50 per hour
- Overtime paid at 1.5x basic hourly rate for authorised hours worked over 45 hours per week.
- Saturday working paid at 1.5x hourly rate.
- Sunday working paid at 2x hourly rate.
- Bank Holiday working paid at double time plus a day in lieu.
- Minimum 8-hour payment for weekend shifts.
- Company vehicle provided for authorised out-of-town working.
