Level 3 Nursery Practitioner
Location: Little Puddings Nursery, S. Anselm’s, Bakewell
Contract: Permanent, All-Year-Round
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, worked on a rota between 7:30am and 6:30pm
Salary: £27,540–£31,620 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience
About the Role
Little Puddings Nursery is delighted to be opening our brand-new setting in Bakewell, within the beautiful Peak District, and we are looking for enthusiastic, caring and dedicated Level 3 Nursery Practitioners to join our team from the very beginning.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a nurturing, high-quality early years environment where you can make a genuine difference to children’s learning, development and wellbeing.
Working with children from 3 months onwards, you will play an important role in creating a safe, secure, caring and stimulating environment where every child feels valued and supported.
This is an active teaching and care role. You will contribute directly to children’s learning and development through high-quality interactions, play and purposeful learning experiences. You will plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), respond to children’s individual needs and interests, and help them develop confidence, curiosity, independence and a love of learning.
You will also build positive relationships with children and families and work collaboratively with colleagues to create an exceptional nursery experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a warm, safe and welcoming environment where children feel valued, secure and supported.
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences that support children’s development, curiosity, confidence and independence.
- Support children’s learning and development in line with the EYFS.
- Use high-quality interactions, play, questioning and modelling to extend children’s learning.
- Build warm, responsive and respectful relationships with children, recognising and responding to their individual needs and interests.
- Act as a key person for allocated children and develop strong relationships with their families.
- Carry out meaningful observations and assessments and contribute to accurate records of children’s learning and development.
- Contribute to planning and provision that reflects children’s interests, developmental stages and next steps.
- Support children’s personal care routines, including mealtimes, sleep routines, nappy changing and outdoor play.
- Promote children’s communication, language, social, emotional and physical development through responsive care and meaningful interactions.
- Create and maintain an engaging, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency and continuity of care, teaching and learning.
- Communicate positively and professionally with parents and carers, sharing relevant information about their child’s day, development and wellbeing.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, child protection, health, safety and hygiene at all times.
- Follow nursery policies and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding, safer eating, intimate care, infection control and health and safety.
- Contribute ideas, share best practice and take an active role in the continued development of Little Puddings.
- Participate in training and professional development and reflect on your own practice.
About You

Essential
- A recognised Level 3 Early Years qualification, or equivalent qualification recognised as full and relevant for working within the EYFS.
- Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting.
- Experience of supporting or delivering high-quality learning experiences within an EYFS setting.
- A good understanding of child development and the EYFS.
- An understanding of how young children learn through play, relationships, exploration and purposeful experiences.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
- A warm, caring, positive and professional approach.
- The ability to build strong and respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- A genuine commitment to supporting children to learn, develop and thrive.
Desirable
- Experience working across the early years age range, including babies and toddlers.
- Experience working as a key person.
- Experience with observations, assessment and planning.
- Experience supporting children with different needs and developmental stages.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification, or willingness to undertake training.
- Experience working within a school-based nursery or setting.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development.
