Swale Indoor Bowls Centre is home to a friendly indoor bowls club, situated on the recreation ground at Milton Regis and is one of the most successful and flourishing clubs in the country. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Swale Indoor Bowls Centre Manager is responsible for all aspects of the club’s business, maintenance and administration.
We are looking for an experienced manager with strong interpersonal skills and with previous experience of front of house or direct customer interaction. They will provide a professional and friendly service to all the Centre’s members, visitors and company representatives in person and on the telephone.
Candidates should have strong organisational skills, be able to act on their own initiative and have proven competence in finance. They will have experience of managing Sage Payroll and/or experience of similar payroll software is essential. They will be computer literate and be proficient at using Word, Excel etc. Candidates must have a good standard of education.
- Minimum of GCSE in five subjects including English and Maths (grade C or higher)
They will have the support of one part-time assistant and volunteer reception stewards.
On the job training will be given to the successful candidate.
It is important to note the post is seasonal, with the Centre being open fewer hours in the summer. Experience and knowledge of indoor bowls is not required.
Winter: You will be required to work four weekdays, Monday to Thursday (30 hours a week with 30 minutes unpaid lunch daily)
Hours: 8.30 to 4.30.
Summer: You will be required to work three weekdays, Monday, Tuesday and Friday (21 hours a week, with 30 minutes unpaid lunch daily)
Main duties and responsibilities include:
· Running the centre on a day-to-day basis and making sure personnel are present as expected.
· Counting and reconciling cash and card payments, daily and weekly.
· Managing Sage Payroll for all staff and pension contributions for eligible staff.
· Purchasing stationery, cleaning materials etc within an agreed budget.
· Coordinating arrangements to ensure the building has sufficient equipment and supplies and is well maintained.
· Following Health and Safety regulations
· Being responsible for fire safety in the building.
· Maintaining and following General Data Protection Regulations, employment regulations, equal opportunities legislation, disciplinary and grievance procedures and relevant policies.
· Liaising with stewards, cleaner, stocking the bar and managing bar staff and consulting with the catering franchisee
· Informing members of important notifications by email and placing on notice boards.
Holiday might need to be taken when the club closes for refurbishment etc. unless you are needed there.
