An exciting role as arisen at our Surgery in Loughborough; Hathern Surgery, for a part-time, Dispensary Assistant. The successful candidate will work 24 hours per week (Monday to Wednesday), from 9am to 6pm with an hour unpaid break. The successful candidate must hold an NVQ Level 2 in dispensing practice or equivalent.

What you'll be doing:
- Answering the telephone promptly and handling prescription requests
- Issuing prepared prescriptions and processing new requests, including via email
- Collecting prescription charges and checking patient exemption declarations
- Operating efficient stock control to ensure continuity of supply and minimise wastage
- Receiving and storing medicines correctly, including maintaining fridge temperature logs
- Keeping the dispensary clean, tidy and equipment in good working order
- Maintaining full, accurate computerised records of all dispensing transactions
- Supporting the wholesaling side of the business — placing stock orders, checking deliveries against batch numbers and quantities, and sorting stock for collection (this can involve heavy lifting of totes)
- Providing a caring home delivery service to patients where needed
- Supporting dispensers with admin, including invoices and correspondence to the Practice Manager
- Handling money on behalf of the Practice and keeping accurate financial records
What we're looking for:
- NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing Practice or equivalent — essential
- A positive, friendly, professional manner with patients and visitors
- Comfortable with lone working — during periods of wholesaling and dispensing, the post-holder will be alone in the building, as dispensary hours differ from surgery hours
- Strong attention to detail and reliable record-keeping
- A team player who's also happy to get stuck into physical stock work
