The Opportunity
We are looking for a strong Sous Chef to join our team at The White Lion, Weston – a busy gastro pub and hotel in the heart of Cheshire.
This is a great opportunity for a confident Sous who is ready to step up. With our Head Chef taking time off shortly, you’ll have the chance to take real ownership of the kitchen, lead the team, and make your mark. We will be looking to you to step up and manage the team, implementing your ideas and follow the guidelines of the Head Chef while he is off.
The Company
The White Lion is a well-established gastro pub with 17 hotel rooms, a busy restaurant, bar, and a strong events business (including functions up to 200 guests).

The Role
As Sous Chef, you will be second in command and play a key role in running the kitchen day-to-day.
During key periods, you will take full responsibility for:
* Leading the kitchen and service
* Managing the team on shift
* Ensuring consistency and standards across all dishes
* Delivering smooth service across restaurant and events
You’ll also:
* Support menu development and weekly specials
* Manage prep, stock, and ordering
* Maintain high standards of food safety and compliance
* Work closely with management to drive performance
About you
* Proven experience in a busy, fresh-food kitchen
* 2 years+ as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous able and ready for that step up
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Ability to stay calm under pressure and run a service
* Passion for food and creativity with specials
* Ability to work under pressure and with dozens of tickets on the go at once
* A hands-on, proactive attitude
