West Sussex Alternative Provision College is seeking a compassionate, resilient and motivated Blended Learning Mentor to join our dedicated team. This rewarding role supports pupils who are unable to attend school due to illness, helping ensure they continue to access high-quality education and remain connected to learning.
Working under the direction of qualified teachers, you will deliver personalised learning programmes, primarily on a one-to-one basis in pupils' homes and other appropriate settings, while building positive relationships with families, schools and professionals.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or learning mentor who is passionate about inclusion and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
About the Role
As a Blended Learning Mentor, you will:
- Deliver planned learning activities to pupils who are unable to attend school because of illness or other medical needs.
- Adapt teaching approaches and resources to meet individual health, emotional and educational needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a consistent and supportive adult.
- Support engagement, progress and achievement through personalised learning approaches.
- Liaise effectively with schools, families, health professionals and other agencies to ensure continuity of education.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Support attendance, transition and reintegration back into mainstream education where appropriate.
- Assist with examination arrangements, including invigilation in home or off-site settings.
- Contribute to review meetings and multi-agency working to support pupil outcomes.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children and young people, particularly those with additional needs, SEND, SEMH needs or barriers to learning.
- Holds GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above) and a relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
- Can confidently deliver structured learning activities under teacher guidance.
- Is adaptable, organised and able to work independently.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Remains calm, patient and resilient when responding to challenging situations.

What You Need to Succeed
Essential Requirements
- GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above).
- NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Ability to travel between locations across West Sussex.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
