Company: Applied Reasoning Ltd
Job Type: Freelance / Self-Employed
Location: Fully Remote, UK based
Hours: Fully Flexible (Set your own schedule)
About the Role
Are you a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate who loves breaking down complex problems, debating design philosophies, and questioning standard solutions? We are a fast-growing tech startup bridging the gap between heavy engineering and advanced Artificial Intelligence—and we need your brainpower.
Instead of traditional CAD modeling or manufacturing oversight, your core responsibility will be collaborative intellectual debate. You will work alongside other bright engineering minds to dissect, deliberate, and solve diverse mechanical engineering problems. The structured data, logic, and rationale generated during your debates will be directly used to train next-generation AI models in advanced engineering problem-solving.
What You Will Do
- Debate & Deliberate: Participate in structured, remote discussions with fellow engineers to tackle complex mechanical engineering scenarios.
- Explain the "Why": Break down your problem-solving methodologies, articulating not just the solution, but the logical steps, physics principles, and trade-offs involved.
- Review & Refine: Critique alternative engineering approaches provided by peers or AI prototypes, identifying logical flaws or edge-case failures.
- Fuel AI Innovation: Provide the high-quality, reasoned data required to teach AI how to think like an elite engineer.
What We Are Looking For
- Education: A recent Graduate or Final Year student in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, or equivalent).
- Analytical Thinkers: A deep, first-principles understanding of mechanical engineering concepts (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, structural analysis, etc.).
- Strong Communicators: The ability to articulate complex technical ideas clearly, logically, and persuasively in English (both written and verbal).
- Curiosity: An interest in how AI intersect with traditional engineering is a huge plus.
Why Apply?
- Total Flexibility: Choose when and how much you work. Perfect for balancing further studies, other projects, or travel.
- 100% Remote: Work from the comfort of your home, a coffee shop, or anywhere with a stable internet connection.
- Cutting-Edge Industry: Gain unique exposure to the intersection of AI development and mechanical engineering—a highly valuable niche for your CV.
- Collaborative Environment: Sharpen your engineering rationale by debating with a network of your peers.
Note: This is a freelance, self-employed position. Successful candidates will be responsible for managing their own tax and national insurance contributions.
