The Royal Thames Yacht Club, based in Knightsbridge, is the oldest continuously operating Yacht Club in the World. It has a growing and active membership across all member categories. The Club is highly respected in the UK and internationally, winning major inter-club sailing events worldwide. The London Clubhouse is known for its excellent dining, functions and renown cellar, actively operating two bars and two restaurants serving seasonal menus selected from best suppliers.
A vacancy has arisen in our finance department for an experienced and proactive Accountant /Accounts Receivable Assistant to join the business.
This position will play a key role in assisting with the financial running of the business to help drive efficiency and accuracy across all areas.
As a core member of the finance team you will be reporting into the Head of Finance.
Duties
Invoice processing, follow up and related duties:
- Process all member invoicing into the accounts system within the monthly reporting timelines.
- Process all sailing related invoices as requested ensuring the correct VAT treatment is applied
- Process all private and club event invoicing entries within monthly reporting timelines
- Issue member and debtor statements on the second working day of each month.
- Run monthly Direct Debit collections and follow up on returns.
- Set up new Direct Debits
- Respond to all member and debtor queries within a 2 day turnaround time.
- Follow up on outstanding debt following company policy timeframes.
Other receivable functions:
- Process deferred revenue entries and reconcile the relevant accounts.
- Assist with the analysis on the various revenue streams identifying reasons for variances to budget
- Assist with reporting schedules
- Assist the year end auditors with all revenue related requests
Other functions
- Joint ownership of the accounts team email inbox
- Manage any other internal and external queries
- Build and maintain positive relationships with members, customers and internal departments.
- Assist with month end closing tasks.
- Work with and provide cover for Accounts Payable Finance Assistant
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and strengthen internal controls.
- Other ad-hoc activities where required

Qualifications
- At least an AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent (QBE).
- 3+ years of experience in both accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Good understanding of Microsoft office suite of products
