Installation & Commissioning Engineer – HPC Somerset / Bridgwater, South West England. Full-time, Permanent, 37.5 hours per week. Join Telent's Network Services division and apply your installation and commissioning expertise across electrical and telecommunications equipment on the prestigious Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear Project. Initially based full-time at our Dunball (Bridgwater) test facility, you will eventually transition into a field-based role supporting installation and commissioning activities at the HPC site. A commercial van and fuel card is supplied as part of this role.
What you'll do:
- Install, configure and commission telecommunications, security and network equipment within the HPC site facility and supporting test environments.
- Collaborate with colleagues, subcontractors and third parties to deliver right-first-time installation and commissioning activities.
- Support witnessing activities, monitor installation quality and report progress to the Installation Manager.
- Collate and share test results, maintain documentation and utilise IT systems to support project reporting and asset management.
- Pre-stage, configure, build, package and prepare equipment for deployment to site.
- Promote a strong nuclear safety and quality culture, ensuring all project, environmental, security and health & safety procedures are followed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to enhance processes and ways of working across the project and warehouse facility.
Who you are:
You are a proactive, safety-driven Installation & Commissioning Engineer with experience working in structured and regulated environments. You take pride in delivering quality work, communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a wider project team. You have a strong technical aptitude, a professional approach and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality, particularly within a nuclear environment.
Key Requirements:
- Experience of installing and commissioning security systems, telecommunications assets and network infrastructure or similar.
- Experience using computer-based configuration tools and software programmes.
- CITB Health & Safety (Operative) qualification, CSCS or ECS accreditation or other relevant certifications.
- Strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement and the Zero Harm principle.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with customers, colleagues and project partners.
- Full UK driving licence required, and willingness to work initially from the Dunball test facility before transitioning to the HPC site.
