Reporting to the IT Manager, you will work as part of a small and supportive IT team, providing first-line technical support to staff and students across the Trust. You will gain practical experience supporting a modern educational IT environment, including Microsoft 365 & Google Workspace cloud services, networking, classroom technology, end-user devices and cyber security systems. The role involves supporting and maintaining approximately 2,000 networked devices, including desktop computers, laptops, classroom technology, printers, telephony systems and other IT infrastructure. This is a full-time position working throughout the year, including school holiday periods.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice IT Support Technician to join our IT Support Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for technology who is looking to begin a career in IT while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
Key Responsibilities
As an Apprentice IT Support Technician, your duties will include:
- Installing, configuring and maintaining computer hardware, software, operating systems and peripheral devices.
- Setting up and deploying desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices and other specialist equipment.
- Providing first-line technical support to staff and students in person, by telephone and through the IT helpdesk system.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and network-related issues.
- Performing routine maintenance to ensure systems remain secure, reliable and efficient.
- Assisting with software installations, upgrades and updates.
- Supporting printers, audiovisual equipment, interactive classroom displays and telephony systems.
- Assisting with the testing and evaluation of new technologies and services.
- Maintaining accurate records of support requests and completed work.
- Helping to ensure IT equipment is installed safely and operating correctly.
- Supporting IT projects and infrastructure improvements across the Trust.
- Promoting good cyber security practices and assisting users with technical guidance and advice.
Future Prospects:
Successful completion of the apprenticeship may lead to a permanent IT Support Technician position, subject to organisational requirements and performance.

Training Provided:
Firebrand’s sector-leading Level 3 Information Communication Technician (L3ICT) Apprenticeship Programme trains apprentices to deliver efficient operation and control of the IT and Telecommunications infrastructure and to deliver and support the information systems needs of an organisation. Options include pathways for Support Technician, Network Technician and Digital Communications Technician.
Firebrands course is delivered either Online (online live instructor led), or face to face in the classroom environment (your choice). Our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Learning Mentors (LMs) and world-leading trainers prepare apprentices to work across multiple sectors.
Completion of this apprenticeship will provide learners with the following world class vendor certifications in addition to the Information Communication
Technician apprenticeship:
- Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
- CompTIA IT Fundamentals+
- Certiport IT Specialist Networking
- Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

- Support for the roll-out of installation and commission of new systems or upgrades
You will work towards the Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship, gaining valuable workplace experience alongside structured training. Training may include:

Qualifications Required:
Essential
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades 9–4 (A*–C) or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics.
