Bookkeeper – Process-Driven, Tech-Forward, Ready to Shake Things Up
We're looking for a part time/freelance bookkeeper who doesn't just keep the books — they improve how the books get kept.
MUST BE ABLE TO VISIT OUR BRIGHTON OFFICE
This is a hands-on role in a growing business where the way things have always been done is officially up for review. We need someone who's proficient in bookkeeping fundamentals — purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations, VAT, management accounts — but who also has the confidence and energy to challenge existing workflows and build better ones.
What we're after:
You're organised, accurate, and quick — but you're not just a number-cruncher. You notice inefficiencies. You ask "why do we do it this way?" and you come with suggestions, not just questions. You bring energy to the role and genuinely enjoy making things work better.
Crucially, you understand and actively use AI tools — particularly Claude by Anthropic — and you're excited about embedding them into day-to-day finance operations. We're not looking for someone who's heard of AI; we want someone who's already using it and can see how it transforms bookkeeping, reporting, and process design.
You'll need to be comfortable with:
Rethinking processes from scratch, not just tweaking what's there. Working with the team to redesign how financial data flows through the business. Using Claude AI and other tools to automate, streamline, and improve accuracy. Speaking up, taking ownership, and driving change.
This role is not for you if you prefer routine, resist change, or don't already use AI to improve your productivity.
