Job Title: Assistant Parish Clerk
Location: Ripley Parish Council office, High Street, Ripley, Surrey
Salary: SCP21 £17.18 an hour (£33,143 per annum, £10,720 pro rata)
Job Type: Part-time 10 hours per week, permanent.
Working pattern: Two five hour days with some evening work being required to attend Council meetings once a month and occasional other evening meetings.
Happy to be flexible and discuss alternative working patterns.
Following training you would have one day working with the Clerk and one day lone working in the office on current projects.
Job Description
We are looking to appoint an Assistant Clerk to support the Parish Clerk and Councillors in delivering efficient administration services, to help support the running of our facilities and ensuring that our yearly events such as our Christmas Fair are a success for the Parish Council
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self motivated person who enjoys working with members of the public and who is looking for a part- time, busy role with lots of variety. You must be flexible and able to adapt to ever changing demands. The job is varied with no two days being the same.
Ideally you should possess good communication skills, good IT skills, some project management experience and the ability to take and prepare minutes and agendas. Training will be provided to the post holder with opportunities for continuing your professional development.
Currently the Assistant Clark is responsible for preparing the agenda, minutes and takes part in the Planning and Environment meetings and leads on feedback and action for planning matters in the Parish, an interest/ willingness to learn in this area would be a benefit.
They also are responsible for the planning and preparation of our large annual Christmas Fair and overseeing matters to do with our Burial Ground.
It is generally an office based role, with answering emails and public queries being a part of the day to day, however Ripley Parish Council are also responsible for a very large Village Green, allotments, a nature reserve, carparks, a playground, bins, bus shelters as well as working with Guildford and Surrey Councils and other key stakeholders to ensure services to Ripley run as they should.
