We are looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our dedicated team and help ensure our home remains safe, compliant, and well maintained.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Technician to oversee the day-to-day maintenance of Mapleton Court Care Home. This is a varied, hands-on role that requires excellent practical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment for vulnerable adults.
You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring statutory compliance, liaising with contractors, and supporting the Home Manager with the overall upkeep of the building and grounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine, planned and reactive maintenance throughout the care home.
- Complete basic electrical, plumbing, joinery, decorating and general building repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimise equipment failures and maintain a safe environment.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks, reporting and rectifying hazards where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, fire safety requirements and company policies.
- Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, water systems and other building services.
- Liaise with external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standard.
- Maintain the home's gardens, pathways, fencing and external areas to a high standard.
- Keep accurate maintenance records and ensure all compliance documentation is completed.
- Support the Home Manager during inspections by ensuring the home remains well maintained and compliant.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities role, ideally within a care home, healthcare or similar environment.
- Good practical knowledge of general building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical repairs, decorating and carpentry.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- A good understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to urgent maintenance issues.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
- Relevant trade qualifications or maintenance certifications would be advantageous.
