A rapidly expanding manufacturing company, supplying into the construction sector and based on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk are currently recruiting for a Commercial Director to join its leadership team.
This is a permanent role, paying between £75,000 - £85,000, depending on experience.
Overview of the role:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take overall responsibility for the commercial and sales function, leading a sales teams.
The role will focus on developing and delivering the company's commercial strategy, driving sales growth and profitability & securing significant new business and high-value contracts. You will also work closely with the wider leadership team to support the company's continued growth and development.
What does the role involve?

As a Commercial Director, you will be responsible of sales strategies and executing them to a high standard

Driving performance throughout the company and specifically within the sales team

Take responsibility for the profit and loss of the sales department

Oversee sales budgets, forecasting and commercial performance

Work closely with production, estimating and other internal departments to ensure customer orders are delivered effectively and in line with production capacity

Leading, mentoring and managing the sales team to perform to the best of their ability

Work closely with the leadership team in the business to help with strategic business decisions

Look at continuous improvement methods across the commercial function
- Running regular sales meetings with the team to monitor performance and drive growth where possible

Representing the company at Industry events and trade shows across the UK
Candidate requirements:

Proven experience in a senior commercial or sales leadership role

Construction background required, as the manufactured products on-site will be sold to construction related companies
- Strong people management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team

Accomplished in securing and closing large, high-value and multi-million-pound contracts

Background within a manufacturing environment is required

Commercially astute, with a strong strategic and analytical mindset

High attention to detail, focused on delivering strong results

Ability to build and maintain customer relationships

Any experience dealing with Tier 1 or Tier 2 construction contractors is advantageous
- Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills
