The Housing Standards team is responsible for ensuring North Yorkshire Council's social housing portfolio of approximately 9,000 homes is maintained to meet current statutory, regulatory and legislative standards. We work with a wide range of contractors, suppliers and partners to deliver services that help keep our homes safe, compliant and well maintained. We have an exciting opportunity for a Contract Supervisor (Career Graded) to join our Direct Delivery Team. Your New Role As a Contract Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of contractor delivered services, ensuring quality, value for money and excellent customer outcomes. Initially, your primary responsibility will be managing the Council's Removals and Storage Contract, supporting tenants through decants and ensuring services are delivered efficiently, safely and sensitively.
As a career graded role, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience across a wider range of Housing Standards contracts and projects. You will also provide support across other contract areas during periods of annual leave, absence or increased service demand, helping to ensure service continuity across the team.
About the Role
You will work closely with tenants, contractors, suppliers and internal teams to ensure services are delivered to agreed standards. Responsibilities will include contract monitoring, performance management, maintaining accurate records, resolving operational issues, raising or work orders, processing of purchase orders and invoices and identifying opportunities for service improvement. The role offers a structured development pathway with training and support to progress through the career grade.
What You'll Be Doing
Managing the day-to-day operation of the Removals and Storage Contract, supporting decants across North Yorkshire. Monitoring contractor performance, quality and customer satisfaction. Arranging and attending contract liaison meetings. Acting as a key point of contact for tenants, contractors and service providers. Maintaining accurate records, performance information and contract documentation. Carrying out due diligence checks and supporting contract administration. Undertaking inspections and service reviews to ensure standards are being met. Working collaboratively with colleagues and partners to deliver efficient and effective services. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and best value.
What We're Looking For
Essential: Strong organisational and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, excellent customer service skills and a willingness to learn and develop within a contract management role. Ability to build positive working relationships with tenants, contractors and colleagues.
Desirable: Experience within housing, property, contract administration, logistics, customer service or contractor management environments. Personal Attributes We're looking for someone who is proactive, organised and customer focused, with a positive approach to problem solving. You will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to delivering excellent services and continuously improving the customer experience.

Additional Information Ability to travel across the county as required. After training and induction has been completed hybrid working is allowed with a minimum of 2 days working from the Council offices. Working hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday-Thursday and 8.30am to 4.30pm Fridays.
