Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Potable Water Detection Dog Handler to join our growing team. This role involves working alongside a trained detection dog to survey potable water network infrastructure and support the identification of leaks and network defects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the health, welfare, and operational effectiveness of their detection dog while delivering surveys to the highest professional standards. This position is ideal for individuals who are driven, self-motivated, and thrive in a high-performance environment where standards are never compromised.
Responsibilities
- Operate and manage a trained potable water detection dog across various sites.
- Conduct surveys of potable water network infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate records of survey activities and findings.
- Ensure the health, welfare, fitness, and ongoing development of the detection dog.
- Prepare equipment and vehicles for daily operations.
- Work closely with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
- Undertake regular canine and operational training to maintain high performance standards.
- Travel throughout the assigned region and occasionally stay away from home when required.
Skills & Experience
- Ability to house and care for a working dog at home.
- Previous experience in either:
- Clean water, potable water, leakage detection, utilities, or network operations; or
- Dog training, dog handling, working dogs, or detection dogs.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and capable of working independently.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities.
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Professional attitude with strong communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
