Great manufacturing businesses don’t simply produce exceptional products – they build confidence through precision, consistency, and a commitment to quality at every stage of the process. Behind every product that meets customer expectations is a laboratory team providing the insight, assurance, and technical expertise that keeps production on track and quality standards uncompromised.
As a Laboratory Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our leather, raw materials, and environmental samples consistently meet customer and internal specifications. Combining technical accuracy, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach, you'll provide the testing and reporting that supports production, drives continuous improvement, and gives confidence in every product we deliver.
In this role you will:
- Carry out laboratory testing on leather, incoming materials, and effluent/water samples in accordance with recognised test methods, customer specifications, and internal quality standards
- Ensure samples are correctly prepared and conditioned before testing, maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and consistency
- Analyse and interpret test results, highlighting non-conformances, ambiguous findings, or potential risks promptly to support effective decision making
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and reports, ensuring testing data is up to date, traceable, and communicated to customers and internal stakeholders when required
- Work closely with Production, Technical, Quality, and external contacts to deliver testing within customer deadlines and production schedules
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is calibrated, safe, and fit for purpose while supporting a well-organised and compliant laboratory environment
- Support colour assessment activities, providing feedback on leather colour and advising on corrective actions where required
- Champion safe working practices and contribute to continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, including supporting IMDS data management
You're someone who understands that laboratory testing is about more than producing results - it's about providing confidence. You combine technical expertise with attention to detail, recognising that accurate testing, reliable data, and clear communication are essential to delivering products our customers can trust.
- You will have laboratory experience, ideally within a manufacturing or automotive environment
- You demonstrate a strong understanding of laboratory testing methods, quality standards, and accurate record keeping
- You are confident analysing data and interpreting results, producing clear, factual, and concise reports
- You possess excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in every aspect of your work
- You communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders, building strong working relationships across the business
- You are organised and able to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting customer and production deadlines
- You have a proactive approach to problem solving, identifying issues early and supporting practical, evidence-based solutions
- You are IT competent, safety conscious, and committed to continuous improvement and maintaining high professional standards
