We are an afterschool and holiday club for children with additional needs. We are looking to recruit playworkers to support individual children on a one-to-one basis. We work with children with a variety of support needs. The children in this post require enhanced support.
During term time, afterschool hours are 3:00–5:15/5:30pm. During the holiday club our hours of operation change, with shifts of 10:15–12:30 or 10:15–4:00. Staff can then work up to 28 hours a week if available.
Responsibilities:
- Engage and supervise children during playtime activities
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for children to explore and learn
- Plan and implement age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities
- Encourage social interaction and positive behaviour among children
- Ensure the well-being and safety of the child under your care
- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding their child's progress
Skills:
- Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting
- Knowledge of child development principles and practices
- Ability to create engaging and interactive activities for children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, compassion, and the ability to handle challenging behaviors
- Ability to work well in a team environment
You will be required to undertake a full enhanced DBS check and will need to provide two references.
