1:1 Practitioner – Vocational Skills
Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives? We’re looking for a dedicated 1:1 Practitioner to support students with SEN in a hands-on vocational learning programme that includes carpentry, construction, vehicle mechanics and maintenance.
This role focuses on building technical skills through engaging, practical experiences. You’ll help foster confidence, independence and creativity, while promoting problem-solving and employability.
Adaptability is key to this role. Every student will have different strengths, interests, learning styles and support needs, so you’ll need to be flexible and creative in your approach. You’ll be confident adapting activities, changing plans when needed and finding different ways to engage each young person, ensuring learning remains purposeful, achievable and enjoyable. You’ll be able to respond calmly to changing circumstances and tailor vocational activities to the individual learner, helping them develop skills at their own pace.
Planning and recording are also an important part of the role. You will be expected to provide session plans that link directly to each pupil’s individual short- and long-term targets, ensuring that practical activities have a clear learning purpose and contribute towards their wider outcomes. Following each session, you will be expected to complete a brief session report highlighting the activities undertaken, progress made, engagement and any relevant next steps.

Hours - Full time
The workshop is a huge open plan barn with a kitchenette and purpose built creative arts studio - built by our students!
Example projects are: planters, workbench, bin storage with living roof, hedgehog house but we would like you to bring your creativity to offer the students!
Pay: Negotiable dependent upon experience. All tools and resources/ equipment paid for. Expense card for any additional bits.
