We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher of high calibre to join our established research team working in the area of electronic textiles (e-textiles). The position is funded by the EU project “e-Flower” which has a multidisciplinary approach combining eco-design, co-design and Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) principles with innovations in materials and processing technologies to deliver durable and sustainable e-textiles.
In this role, you will be based in the Centre for Flexible Electronics and E-Textiles within the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS). You will join an interdisciplinary research team that includes members from the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and Winchester School of Art working towards the development of practical e-textile systems.
This role will involve research on the following activities:

E-Textile system development and manufacturing for a range of applications. This will focus on a modular system architecture that will enable the seamless integration of electronic, textile, and energy-storage components developed across the project.

Evaluate the reliability of the devices and processes developed in in the project utilising and developing bending, twisting and dynamic stretch testing systems compliant with the IPC-8981 Quality and Reliability of e-Textile Wearables standard.

Develop demonstrator e-textile systems for specific use case scenarios.
To be successful with your application, you will need to demonstrate:

A PhD in an electronics related topic, or equivalent qualifications and experience.

Experience of electronic systems design, practical circuit assembly techniques and circuit testing.

Excellent experimental research skills with a strong publication track record in high-quality international journals.

A willingness and ability to help with the supervision of PhD students.

Excellent communication and organisational skills, and a proven ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams.
