ROLE SUMMARY
The holder of this post will be a person who is interested in working with children. The post holder must be versatile and adaptable enough to develop and use a variety of skills and who is willing to work as part of an enthusiastic team committed to the care and development of children. She/ he will be expected to be committed to the Nursery’s philosophy of children’s learning, development and care and to maintain high standards of integrity, confidentiality and professional behaviour in her/ his approach to children and parents. The role of Early Years Nursery Practitioner is very wide and will vary from day-to-day, as well as the needs of the children.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Purpose of the job:
The Early Years Apprentice will support the staff team in the day-to-day running of the nursery, contributing to the welfare, learning, and development of children while completing their Early Years Apprenticeship programme.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and does require a criminal records check. Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them.
MAIN DUTIES
1. To assist with the effective daily running of Dot’s Tots Day Nursery, including the education and wellbeing of all children, according to the written policies of Dot’s Tots Day Nursery, Ofsted registration requirements and all statutory legislation.
2. Ensure that high standards of safety, security, hygiene, cleanliness and tidiness are maintained at all times and that the building and resources are treated with respect by children and staff.
3. To ensure that a EYFS curriculum standards are effectively implemented within the rooms.
4. Assisting the Room Leaders and nursery manager, ensure that all required standards, and conditions of registration are maintained at all times within the nursery.
5. To support and monitor EYFS planning to ensure each child develops within a stimulating environment. Ensuring the nursery offers an environment which reflects the cultural diversity of all children.
6. To always effectively complete children’s developmental and observation records.
7. To implement the nursery’s key person system.
8. Ensuring close supervision of children during all mealtimes and adhering to the allergy and dietary requirements of all children within the nursery.
9. To provide a child-centred environment where children are cared for in a safe, caring and stimulating way that ensures their individual needs are met within a group setting.
10. To plan, organise and implement a programme of activities to meet the needs of all children age group and of each individual child’s needs and interests.
11. To Effectively keep children safe. To Monitor, update, and maintain the paperwork needed in the room.
12. To kept up to date with the nursery policies and procedures and Ofsted requirements.
13. To attend training, team meetings, and supervision sessions as part of apprenticeship learning and development.
14. To implement the Nursery’s Equal Opportunities Policy in all aspects of the Nursery and other childcare services.
Health and Safety
· Compliance with health and safety regulation.
· Remaining aware and observant of all health and safety issues in the nursery and where possible reducing the risk of any accident, even in the absence of a risk assessment.
· Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness/tidiness within the nursery.
· Carrying out health and safety checks as outlined within Dot’s Tots Day Nursery policies and procedures.
· Being aware of the outcome of risk assessments and fully implementing the specific controls.
· Completing, keeping and monitoring accident, incident and risk assessment records effectively.
· Ensuring the Dot’s Tots Day Nursery medicine procedures are adhered to.
· Maintaining allergy management systems in line with Dot’s Tots Day Nursery policy.
