Millar & McGowan Pharmacy is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Pharmacy Assistant to join our welcoming team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people and wants to make a real difference within the local community. Previous pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for many of our patients, providing excellent customer service while supporting the pharmacist and wider pharmacy team in the day-to-day running of the pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a warm, friendly and professional service to all patients and customers.
- Assist customers with over-the-counter medicines and healthcare products within your level of training.
- Receive and process prescriptions.
- Order, receive and replenish stock.
- Merchandise retail displays and maintain a clean, organised shop floor.
- Operate the till and process customer transactions.
- Answer telephone enquiries and direct calls appropriately.
- Support the pharmacy team with administrative duties.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with pharmacy procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Promote NHS and private pharmacy services where appropriate.

- Has good attention to detail.
- Works well as part of a team.
- Is willing to learn and develop new skills.
- Has basic IT skills.
Desirable Skills
- Previous customer service or retail experience.
- Previous pharmacy experience.
- Medicines Counter Assistant (MCA) qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Knowledge of healthcare products and services.
