Job Title: National Police Chiefs' Council - Analyst NKCC
Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Hybrid working nationally within UK with anticipated 3 days in central London office.
Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 2 years (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance).

National Knife Crime Centre (NKCC)
The National Knife Crime Centre (NKCC) is the National Policing response to tackling knife crime through coordinating operational activity, optimising strategic partnerships and innovating new methodologies and assisting in development of new legislation.
The NKCC will coordinate the policing response to knife-related crime, with a specific focus on tackling the supply of knives through official or rogue sellers, often illegally to children. The Centre will provide connectivity between industry, social media and tech and law enforcement, continuing to deliver recommendations from an NPCC independent end-to-end review of online knife sales published in Feb 2025.
This is a multi-functional role within the NKCC, combining investigative support and enforcement activity surrounding the online space. Responsibility for tracking, logging, and reporting NKCC activity. Working to support the centre in managing caseload and maintaining liaison with the forces nationally for case development where required. Takes personal responsibility for training and development to ensure appropriately equipped for tasking and to ensure key stakeholders are properly briefed on NKCC activity.
THE ROLE
The Analyst will hold a national remit and will enable the effective delivery of analytical insight and understanding of the national crime data levels relating to knife crime in support of the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) knife crime Portfolio. The role is pivotal to the NKCC data capabilities, fostering a culture of data driven decision making and strategic insight. Enabling a comprehensive understanding of the scale and nature of knife enabled crime, including the illicit supply of knives along with emerging risks, steer organisational direction, inform decision making at local, national and government levels and provide assurance.
The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills:
Proven expertise in data analysis and business intelligence, with advanced proficiency in Power BI for developing and overseeing complex dashboards, reports, and data models Supporting evidence-based policing, performance, risk, assurance and organisational learning framework and approach
National RISC analyst course qualified is desirable
Demonstrates exceptional ability to collect, collate, analyse, and interpret diverse and often complex national datasets, both operational and non-operational to create high-quality insightful analytical products
Recent and advanced statistical, quantitative and/or qualitative analysis, social science, business management or related discipline
Build effective working relationships with colleagues and peers internally and externally.
