A fantastic opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Hotel Duty Manager to join our busy city centre hotel. Working closely with the Operations Manager and senior management team, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the hotel, ensuring consistently high standards across all departments.
The successful candidate will have previous Duty Manager or supervisory experience preferably within the hotel or hospitality industry and an understanding of hotel operations, including Reception, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance and Events.
You will be a confident and professional leader with a genuine passion for hospitality and delivering an exceptional guest experience. You will be required to lead by example, motivate the team and ensure the hotel operates smoothly and efficiently at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the hotel in the absence of the Operations Manager or General Manager.
- Support the Operations Manager in maintaining high operational, service and presentation standards across all areas of the hotel.
- Supervise and manage functions, weddings, conferences, meetings and other events, ensuring they are delivered professionally and to the highest standards.
- Oversee event setup, service and breakdown, working closely with the Events, Food & Beverage and operational teams.
- Act as the senior point of contact for guests, dealing confidently and professionally with enquiries, complaints and operational issues.
- Ensure an exceptional guest experience is maintained throughout the hotel.
- Monitor and respond to guest feedback across the hotel's direct website and third-party booking and review platforms.
- Manage, supervise and motivate a team of employees on a daily basis, ensuring staff are appropriately trained and supported.
- Assist with staff training, development, performance management and maintaining company standards.
- Work closely with Reception, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance and other departments to ensure effective communication and smooth daily operations.
- Monitor hotel standards, cleanliness, presentation, health & safety and compliance.
- Assist with incident management, emergency procedures and resolving operational issues as they arise.
- Support stock control, cash handling, banking and other operational procedures where required.
- Assist with weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting, producing performance information and analysis against agreed KPIs.
- Promote the hotel and maintain its reputation by consistently delivering excellent customer care and service.
- Lead by example and ensure all team members understand and maintain the hotel's standards and values.
- Carry out opening and closing procedures and ensure appropriate handovers are completed between shifts.
- Work flexibly across the operation according to business requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a Duty Manager, Assistant Manager or senior supervisory role within a hotel or hospitality environment. is desirable but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of hospitality operations and the ability to work confidently across multiple departments.
- Experience supervising weddings, functions, conferences and events desirable.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.

- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
