Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT)

We’re looking for an Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT) to join our team, supporting the safe and efficient supply of medicines and helping patients access our NHS and private services.
About the Role
As an Accuracy Checking Technician, you will:
- Carry out safe, accurate, and efficient final accuracy checks on prescriptions dispensed by other team members, following the pharmacist’s clinical check and working within your competence and our standard operating procedures.
- Identify dispensing errors and discrepancies, ensuring these are resolved before medicines are supplied and referring clinical queries to the pharmacist.
- Support the smooth running of the dispensary, helping organise workloads and prioritise prescriptions while maintaining patient safety and accuracy.
- Actively support engagement with NHS and private pharmacy services, identifying patients who may benefit, explaining the services available, and supporting the Pharmacist in service delivery.
- Provide a friendly, welcoming, and professional service, offering medicines and healthcare advice within your competence and referring to the pharmacist where appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers, GP surgeries, and other healthcare professionals to resolve queries and support continuity of care.
- Help colleagues develop safe working practices and contribute to learning from dispensing errors and near misses.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician with a recognised accuracy-checking qualification or accreditation.
- Has experience in dispensing and a sound understanding of pharmacy procedures and patient safety.
- Takes pride in working accurately, with excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to checking.
- Is organised, reliable, and able to manage competing priorities in a busy pharmacy.
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Is proactive in helping patients access appropriate services.
- Enjoys working as part of a team and is confident using their initiative and supporting colleagues.
- Shares our passion for supporting the local community and delivering outstanding patient care.
Previous community pharmacy experience is essential, and familiarity withProScript Connectis desirable.

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
