We are looking for caring, reliable and enthusiastic Part-Time Children’s Residential Support Workers to join our team in Widnes.
We currently have 8-hour and 16-hour permanent contracted positions available, which may be ideal for people looking for a part-time role alongside other commitments while still becoming a consistent and valued member of our team.
About the Role
As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will play an important role in providing safe, nurturing and structured support to the children and young people living within our home.
You will work as part of a dedicated team to build positive and trusting relationships, provide consistent care and help children develop confidence, independence, resilience and everyday life skills.
Our aim is to create a warm and homely environment where children feel valued, listened to and supported to achieve their individual goals.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting children and young people with their day-to-day routines, including personal care where required, mealtimes and recreational activities
- Building safe, positive and trusting relationships through consistent and empathetic care
- Providing emotional support and responding appropriately to behaviours that may communicate distress or unmet needs
- Supporting children to develop confidence, independence and everyday life skills
- Supporting children with education, hobbies, appointments, activities and community engagement
- Encouraging children to participate in positive experiences and helping to create meaningful memories
- Following and contributing to individual placement plans, care plans and risk assessments
- Maintaining clear and accurate records, including daily records, progress notes and incident documentation
- Working closely with colleagues and external professionals to provide consistent support for each child
- Promoting positive routines, boundaries and relationships within the home
- Following safeguarding, health and safety procedures and all relevant policies
- Supporting with household tasks to maintain a clean, safe and homely environment
- Using IT systems confidently for recording and reporting purposes
- Working as part of the wider team to ensure children receive consistent, high-quality care

- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Able to work in a therapeutic and child-centred way
Previous experience working with children or young people in residential childcare, social care, education or a similar support role is desirable.
A Level 3/4 Diploma in Residential Childcare is desirable. We also welcome applications from suitable candidates with relevant experience or transferable skills who are willing to undertake further training and development.
A full UK driving licence is essential.

Working Hours
This is a part-time position with either an 8-hour or 16-hour contracted working week.
Due to the nature of residential childcare, some flexibility is required. Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins depending on the needs of the home.
