Your work will help ensure the hospital estate stays safe, resilient and compliant — supporting clinical teams to deliver vital care for the community.
You’ll create impactful solutions by managing engineering teams, planning maintenance activity and ensuring statutory and contractual obligations are met. Your work will directly support continuity of clinical services, protect the long‑term condition of the estate and help create a positive impact for patients, colleagues and the wider community.
What you’ll do as a Maintenance Manager
You’ll be entrusted to:
-
Oversee day‑to‑day operations for building fabric and mechanical and electrical service delivery across the estate.
-
Manage Engineering Team Leaders and Supervisors, ensuring high standards of workmanship and performance.
-
Ensure all statutory, mandatory and contractual obligations are met, including compliance with KPIs and audit requirements.
-
Liaise with NHS partners, SPV representatives and internal Estates teams to support smooth operational delivery.
-
Provide asset condition reports and support the development of the Annual Programme for planned works.
-
Develop and test contingency plans for mechanical and electrical services.
-
Support the Contract Manager by deputising when required and contributing to effective contract leadership.
Does this sound like you?
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have…

Experience leading a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) maintenance services team, ideally within a hospital setting.
-
Strong operational and project delivery experience within facilities management.
-
The ability to interpret complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
-
Financial and analytical skills, including experience producing detailed reports for varied stakeholders.
-
Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the diplomacy to work effectively with NHS and external partners.
