Job Description
Cromwell Medical Staffing is currently recruiting experienced Band 5 Community Registered Nurses (RGNs) to support a Community Nursing Team across the West Sussex areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for compassionate and skilled community nurses who enjoy delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within patients' homes and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients within their own homes and community settings.
- Perform male, female, and suprapubic catheterisation safely and competently.
- Manage blocked urethral and suprapubic catheters in accordance with local policies.
- Administer insulin to patients with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
- Apply and manage compression bandaging for patients with lower limb conditions.
- Manage PleurX and Rocket drains safely and effectively.
- Undertake phlebotomy procedures.
- Set up and manage syringe drivers for patients requiring continuous medication administration.
- Carry out comprehensive wound assessments and wound care using evidence-based practice.
- Verify Expected Death (VoED) where appropriately trained and competent.
Essential Requirements
- Current NMC Registered Nurse (Adult) registration.
- Minimum 6 months NHS Community Nursing experience.
- Demonstrable competency in:
- Male, female, and suprapubic catheterisation.
- Blocked catheter management.
- Insulin administration (Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes).
- Compression bandaging.
- Wound assessment and wound care.
- Phlebotomy.
- Syringe driver set-up.
- PleurX/Rocket drain management.
- Verification of Expected Death (VoED) (where trained).
- Sound knowledge of adult safeguarding within community settings.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred for community visits).
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working within NHS Community Nursing or District Nursing teams.
- Experience using electronic community patient record systems (e.g., SystmOne, RiO).
- IV therapy competency.
- Tissue viability or leg ulcer management experience.
