Job Overview
Subcontract Work Available: Self-Employed Gardener Needed
Pay: TBD
Location: In-person (Local sites)
Basis: Self-Employed / Subcontract
Are you an established self-employed gardener with gaps in your current schedule? Looking to add a steady, contract to your existing client base without the hassle of marketing for it?
We are looking for an active, reliable professional to take on independent garden and landscape maintenance contracts on a subcontractor basis. This is the perfect opportunity to secure reliable, consistent income to complement your current workload.
Important: This role is strictly for individuals currently active in the trade. If you do not have relevant professional experience or are not currently working as a gardener, please do not apply. Previous applicants need not reapply.
How We Work (Solo & Team Flexibility)
The nature of our workload varies from week to week. Depending on the scale of the contract and the schedule, you will need to be comfortable with both dynamics:
Independent Sites: Managing and completing smaller to mid-sized gardens entirely on your own.
Team Operations: Collaborating and working alongside other experienced subcontractors to efficiently tackle larger commercial or premium residential projects.
The Work Involves:
General Maintenance: High-standard mowing, weeding, edging, fertilising, and lawn care.
Horticultural Tasks: Pruning, shaping, and trimming hedges, shrubs, and small trees using standard trade tools.
Planting & Bed Care: Preparing soil, managing seasonal planting schedules, and installing new greenery.
Garden Health: Monitoring sites for pests or diseases and applying appropriate treatments.
Site Management: Keeping equipment serviced and ensuring a premium finish for clients, whether working alone or in a team.
What You Need to Bring:
Active Trade Status: You must currently be working as a self-employed gardener with a proven track record.
Tool & Equipment Proficiency: Complete confidence operating commercial power tools (mowers, hedge trimmers, blowers) and hand tools.
Solid Horticulture Knowledge: A strong understanding of plant care, seasonal requirements, and landscape techniques.
Adaptability: Equally happy working autonomously without supervision or pulling together as part of a team on bigger jobs.
Professionalism: Highly organised, reliable, and capable of representing a high standard of work to clients.
