Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team. This role involves supporting food service operations by preparing and cooking meals in a professional environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and experience working in a busy kitchen setting. Duties
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients
- Cook and prepare meals according to specified recipes and standards
- Ensure all food is prepared safely and in compliance with hygiene regulations
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately
- Organise ingredients and supplies to ensure efficient workflow during meal service
- Support with serving meals to customers or clients as required
- Follow all health and safety procedures diligently to prevent accidents or contamination
- Assist in stock control by monitoring inventory levels and notifying management of supplies needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment or restaurant setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods
- Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks within the kitchen setting
