About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Plate Layer to join our flexographic print team. This is a hands-on, skilled role at the heart of our print operation — if you take pride in precision, plate quality, and keeping presses running, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Plate Layer, you'll be responsible for the accurate mounting of flexographic printing plates onto cylinders and sleeves, ensuring perfect registration and alignment every time. Day-to-day, you'll:
- Read and interpret works orders, job tickets, and mounting guides
- Prepare, clean, and inspect print cylinders and sleeves before mounting
- Mount flexo plates with precision, checking for defects before and after
- Manage mounting tape selection and usage to control cost and quality
- Maintain accurate plate inventory and mounting records
- Support changeovers and minimise press downtime working alongside print operators
- Identify and escalate artwork problems and equipment issues
- Keep the plate area clean and compliant with BRCGS standards
- Mentor and support Plate Assistants and Print Operators
What We're Looking For
- Experience in flexographic plate mounting or a similar print/packaging environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work at pace in a fast-moving manufacturing setting
- Strong communicator — comfortable working across shifts and teams
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Basic maths and measurement skills
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Fluent English (written and verbal)
