Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HGV/Plant Fitter to join our team, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy goods vehicles and plant machinery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to work independently and efficiently to ensure optimal equipment performance. Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs and plant machinery, including excavators and forklifts.
- Diagnose faults using schematics, electrical diagrams, and mechanical knowledge.
- Perform repairs involving fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly of components.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Repair or replace faulty parts such as hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs carried out on each vehicle or piece of equipment.
- Assist with equipment modifications or upgrades as required.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company standards.
- Support the mobilisation of machinery for operational needs and ensure all safety protocols are followed during heavy lifting operations.
Skills
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical systems, and mechanical repairs
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialised maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts.
- Ability to perform equipment repair with precision and attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the capacity to diagnose issues efficiently.
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively whilst maintaining safety standards.
- Physically capable of heavy lifting and working in demanding environments requiring manual dexterity and stamina.
