CR Smith has an exciting opportunity due to significant growth and expansion across our domestic, trade and commercial lines. We are therefore looking for an experienced glass cutter to join our highly skilled team on the window, door and glazing lines. This role is ideal for someone with experience in glazing, glass fitting, joinery or windscreen replacement.
You will be motivated and enthusiastic, with a good work ethic and able to work under your own initiative. This role requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and productivity. This is a manual role with physical work involved.
Key Responsibilities -
- Measure and cut glass accurately to production specifications and customer requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
- Operate and maintain manual and automated glass cutting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect glass for defects and ensure all finished products meet company quality standards.
- Handle, transport, and store glass safely to minimise damage and waste.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure manufacturing deadlines are achieved.
- Monitor stock levels of glass and report shortages or damaged materials.
- Follow all health and safety policies, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
What we are looking for -
- Proven experience as a glass cutter within a window and door manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Experience operating glass cutting machinery and associated production equipment.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of glass types, thicknesses, and handling techniques.
- Strong awareness of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.

Working hours: Typically, Monday to Friday 6am – 2pm for day shift and Monday to Thursday 8pm - 6am for night shift with the opportunity for overtime. (Alternative shift patterns may be available from time to time.)
As part of the onboarding process the successful candidate must provide valid Right to Work documents, two positive references and complete a criminal background questionnaire.
