Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold dishes according to menu specifications and quality standards
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, marinating, and portioning ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Ensure all food is stored correctly and rotated appropriately to minimise waste
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure optimal results
- Collaborate with team members to deliver efficient service during busy periods
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold hygiene standards at all times
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying management of shortages
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a café, restaurant or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities during busy service hours
- Previous experience in meal preparation, kitchen operations, or culinary roles is highly desirable
- Serving experience is beneficial but not essential; a friendly attitude towards customers is important
