About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and reliable Dental Nurse to join our friendly teams across our Carntyne Dental Care and Tollcross Dental Care practices in Glasgow.
The successful candidate will be an important part of our clinical teams, providing high-quality chairside support while helping to ensure every patient receives a professional, comfortable and positive experience.
This is a varied role working alongside different clinicians and supporting a range of dental treatments. We are looking for someone who is adaptable, organised and confident working within a busy practice environment.
The role would suit a Dental Nurse who takes pride in their clinical standards, enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to providing excellent patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Chairside Support
- Providing effective chairside assistance to clinicians throughout treatment.
- Preparing surgeries, instruments and materials for appointments.
- Working confidently alongside different clinicians and adapting to their individual requirements.
- Anticipating the needs of the clinician to help appointments run smoothly and efficiently.
- Supporting patients throughout their appointments and helping to create a calm, welcoming environment.
- Communicating professionally and sensitively with patients and colleagues.
- Supporting the wider clinical team to maintain high standards of patient care.
Infection Prevention & Surgery Standards
- Following practice infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
- Cleaning, sterilising and safely storing instruments in accordance with practice procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of surgery cleanliness, organisation and sanitation.
- Ensuring clinical areas are appropriately prepared before and after treatment.
- Reporting any equipment issues or concerns promptly.
Records, Administration & Stock
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and completing relevant documentation.
- Supporting stock control and monitoring clinical supplies.
- Reporting shortages and ensuring the clinical team has the materials required for treatment.
- Contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the practice.
Essential Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as a Dental Nurse.
- GDC registration, or experienced trainee status with a commitment to completing registration.
- Strong chairside and clinical support skills.
- Excellent communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to work confidently with different clinicians and treatment styles.
- High standards of infection prevention, sanitation and sterilisation.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of clinical care.
- A professional, reliable, caring and patient-focused approach.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider dental team.
Desirable Experience
Experience or additional skills in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Sedation nursing
- Orthodontics
- Dental implants
- Surgical dentistry
- Specialist dental procedures
While these skills are desirable, they are not essential. Full details of training and development opportunities will be discussed with suitable candidates.
About You
We are looking for someone who is reliable, adaptable and committed to providing excellent patient care.
You should be comfortable working alongside different clinicians and adapting to the requirements of different appointments and treatment procedures.
A strong understanding of clinical standards, infection prevention and patient safety is essential, alongside the ability to maintain a calm and welcoming environment for patients.
You will also need to be a strong team player, working collaboratively with dentists, nurses, reception teams and other members of the practice to ensure appointments run efficiently and patients receive a consistently high standard of care.
