The hours for this role are 07:30-09:30 and 15:00-19:00, Monday to Friday. This is a term time only position plus an additional 15 days.

Primary Purpose
The Security Officer is responsible for providing an efficient, effective and safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors as part of the security team. The role requires a consistent and professional approach to maintaining the security of the school site and supporting daily operations.
Principal Objectives
- The Security Officer reports to the Security Lead, who allocates tasks and provides guidance where required. The postholder is expected to prioritise duties effectively and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Health, Safety and Hygiene
- The postholder is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all staff, pupils and visitors through the operation of the school’s physical security systems and processes. The Security Officer must comply with the School’s Health and Safety policy at all times and take responsibility for health and safety both personally and in relation to others. All duties must be carried out in line with relevant risk assessments.
Physical Security of the School Site
- The Security Officer acts as the first point of contact for all visitors to the school and is responsible for controlling access and egress to the site. Duties include monitoring CCTV, carrying out patrols, escorting visitors and contractors and locking and unlocking gates as required.
Deliveries
- The postholder is responsible for receiving and recording all school deliveries and ensuring they are distributed to the intended recipients.
Security Operations and Duties
- The role includes conducting daily security duties as well as supporting security arrangements for specific events. Responsibilities also include managing school signage in relation to bookings, coordinating visitor parking, reviewing CCTV footage and producing reports on incidents and breaches. The postholder will investigate and resolve issues and coordinate emergency services when required.
Equipment and Development
- The Security Officer must report any faulty equipment immediately and ensure that all security equipment is used and stored in accordance with school policy. A willingness to learn and develop new techniques within the security department is required. The postholder is expected to undertake any other duties reasonably requested by school management.
Working Environment
- Working conditions will vary depending on the task and may involve outdoor duties affected by weather conditions. The role requires a significant level of physical effort and the postholder must be physically fit and alert.
Interaction and Communication
- The role involves regular interaction with colleagues in the Estates department, as well as with students, parents, teaching and support staff, contractors and visitors.
