About the Role: Carryduff Plumbing Supplies is looking for a friendly, reliable and knowledgeable person to join our team as a Plumbing Trade Counter Sales Assistant.
This is a customer-facing role at the heart of our busy plumbing trade counter, dealing directly with plumbers, heating engineers, tradespeople and members of the public.
We're looking for someone who enjoys dealing with people, works well in a busy environment and ideally already has experience or knowledge of plumbing and heating products.
What You'll Be Doing
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Serving customers at the plumbing trade counter
- Helping customers identify the correct products and parts they require
- Processing sales, orders and customer payments
- Answering telephone enquiries and checking stock availability
- Preparing customer orders for collection
- Creating quotations and following up customer enquiries
- Building good working relationships with our regular trade customers
- Keeping the trade counter organised, stocked and presentable
- Checking and replenishing stock when required
- Liaising with the warehouse and other members of the CPS team
- Assisting with incoming deliveries and stock when required
- Promoting products, offers and suitable alternatives
- Providing a friendly and efficient service to both trade and retail customers
What We're Looking For
Previous experience within a plumbing merchant, builders' merchant, trade counter or plumbing/heating environment would be a strong advantage.
Good knowledge of plumbing and heating products would also be beneficial, including fittings, pipework, valves, wastes, traps, heating components and general plumbing supplies.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and confident with customers
- Comfortable dealing with tradespeople face-to-face and over the phone
- Reliable and able to work well as part of a small team
- Organised with good attention to detail
- Comfortable using computer-based sales and order systems
- Willing to learn and develop their product knowledge
- Proactive and happy to get involved wherever needed
- Able to work efficiently during busy trade periods
Hours & Salary
The position is primarily Monday to Friday.
There will occasionally be a requirement for a late Wednesday evening or Saturday morning depending on the needs of the business. This will not be every week and can be discussed further at interview.
Salary will be discussed and agreed based on the successful candidate's previous experience and level of plumbing/trade knowledge.
