Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English & PSHE Teacher to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons in English and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) to students across various age groups. Duties
- Plan, prepare, and deliver comprehensive lessons in English and PSHE that cater to diverse learning needs.
- Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
- Assess student progress regularly through assignments, tests, and informal evaluations; provide constructive feedback.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to maintain discipline and promote respectful interactions.
- Develop customised tutoring programmes for students requiring additional support in subjects such as maths or literacy skills.
- Mentor students on academic and personal development topics, encouraging critical thinking and resilience.
- Incorporate creative writing, journalism, proofreading, and organisational activities into lesson plans to enhance engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum content aligned with educational standards and school objectives.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and behavioural incidents in accordance with school policies.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching practice.
Skills
The right candidate MUST have experience in SEMH settings.
- Proven experience in teaching English and PSHE at secondary or primary levels.
- Strong mentoring abilities with a focus on supporting student wellbeing and personal growth.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey concepts and foster positive relationships with students and staff.
- Proficiency in journalism, creative writing, proofreading, and organisational skills to enrich lesson content.
- Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively while maintaining an inclusive environment.
- Experience with special education needs (SEN) is desirable but not essential; adaptability is key.
- Competence in tutoring students in maths or other core subjects as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to develop engaging lesson plans that stimulate critical thinking and creativity.
