Room Leader – Early Years
Overview
We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and enthusiastic Room Leader to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the daily running of the room, ensuring high-quality care and education for all children while supporting and motivating other team members. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day running of the room, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and welcoming environment for all children.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS framework, supporting each child’s individual learning and development.
- Act as a positive role model, providing guidance and support to other staff members and helping to maintain high standards of practice.
- Build strong, professional relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues through effective communication.
- Monitor children’s progress, complete observations and assessments, and contribute to planning for their next steps in learning.
- Ensure all children receive high-quality care, including supporting personal care routines such as nappy changing, toileting, mealtimes, dressing, and promoting independence.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is completed to a high standard.
- Ensure the room is clean, organised, and well-resourced, carrying out regular risk assessments and maintaining a safe environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and support children’s emotional wellbeing.
- Work alongside the management team to ensure the setting consistently meets EYFS and Ofsted requirements.
- Support new staff, students, and apprentices as required.
- Always follow the setting’s policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality relating to children, families, and staff, complying with Data Protection regulations.
- Have a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures and act appropriately to ensure children’s welfare (training will be provided).
Job Details
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From £15.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in an early years setting is essential.
- Previous experience as a Senior Practitioner, Deputy Room Leader, or Room Leader is highly desirable.
- A relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above).
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding, and Ofsted requirements.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and support a team while maintaining high standards of care and education.
- Confident in building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Paediatric First Aid qualification is desirable (or willingness to complete training).
