Full-time permanent position in our maintenance team. Mon - Sat 40-60 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will have experience in HGV mechanics with good knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, trailer combinations and ideally hiab cranes. Basic welding skills also required.
On site Indoor pitted workshop with welfare facilities + outdoor working environment.
£18/hour plus Time and Quater Overtime
Job Overview
To maintain and repair a large fleet of HGV's equipment and trailer combinations. Troubleshooting faults and fixing them in a timely manner, while aiming to maximize reliability and functionality.
Assisting the Maintenance Manager to ensure functionality and reliability of all vehicles, hiab engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and other mechanical equipment on site limiting potential breakdowns down the road. Using your core skills to work within a team to ensure all equipment is running efficiently and safely.

Ideal candidate to also have a HGV Class One licence to perform road tests, use of yard shunter and take/collect units/trailers from 3rd party sites i.e MOTS/CONTRACT SERVICE MAITENANCE (Note CPC is given as part of our driver development program)
Operational Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting repairing reported defects and breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving them in a timely manner.
- Conducting routine maintenance and repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
- Performing thorough servicing and routine maintenance tasks on all vehicles, machinery and equipment used.
- Inspecting machines, engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulic systems. Running diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts.
- Operating welders, cutting equipment, angle grinders, various power tools and air tools.
- Welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
- Determining the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Setting up components for welding according to specifications.
- Repairing vehicles, machinery, equipment and other components by welding.
- Maintaining all vehicles, machines and equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety including removal and fitting/torquing on tyres.
- Performing daily maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting on daily activities.
- Always maintaining clean and tidy equipment used within the maintenance department.
- Always maintaining a clean and tidy workshop and site.
- Report any new ideas to management to potentially implement.
