Technical Manager, 22.5-30 hours per week (negotiable); £44-52K per year based on 30 hours per week

Henryson Foods International Ltd. is a family-owned import and distribution business that has been operating for over 25 years. We currently have 6 employees and a turnover in excess of £10 million per year. We import and distribute food ingredients which we supply to manufacturers, foodservice and wholesale businesses.

Job Role and Responsibilities
- Lead Company HACCP team.
- Maintain and update quality systems ensuring that we continue to meet the requirements of the BRCGS for Agents and Brokers and MSC Chain of Custody. Take overall responsibility for preparation and execution of the Company’s BRCGS and MSC audits.
- Oversee supplier approval; manage relationships with supplier and customer technical teams to ensure products comply with food safety and legal requirements, to agreed customer standards and/or product specifications, and resolve technical issues when they arise.
- Monitor and trend complaints and report result to the whole team at min. 6 monthly review meetings. Promptly alert MD to any potential product safety, legality and/or product authenticity incidents.
- Undertake internal audits on specific sections of the Company’s Quality Management system and report results to auditees.
- Travel both independently and with customers to manufacturing sites abroad (primarily in Europe) and to customer sites/storage facilities in the UK, conducting audits and gap analysis against customer and BRCGS guidelines.
- Take overall responsibility for the organisation of training, developing employee awareness of technical issues, thereby promoting a culture focused on quality and improvement.
- Manage Company Planner, ensuring that scheduled activities happen on time.
- Manage food safety risk assessments and sampling activities as and when the Company attends trade exhibitions.
- Undertake administrative duties to support colleagues if/when required (we are a small team and a flexible approach is very important).
Experience
- Candidate must hold HACCP level 3 and have a good understanding of BRCGS systems.
- Candidate must be demonstrably competent and experienced in auditing food safety and quality management systems (either internally or externally).
- A qualification in labelling regulations is desirable but not essential.
- Experience of customs (import) procedures is advantageous but not essential.

Candidate must
- Be able to live and work in the UK.

Pay: £44,000.00-£52,000.00 per year
