We're a small Fire & Security company based in the South Wales Valleys, and we're looking for an experienced engineer to become an important part of our team. This isn't a position where you'll be just another engineer on a long list of employees. We're a small team, we work closely together, and we're looking for someone we can rely on, someone who knows the industry, takes pride in doing a job properly and is ready to hit the ground running from day one.
You'll need real, hands-on experience with fire and security systems. You should be comfortable turning up to a job, understanding what's in front of you, finding faults, solving problems and getting the work done properly.Sometimes you'll be out working independently and making your own decisions; other times you'll be working alongside the rest of us to get a larger job completed.If you're the type of engineer who likes taking responsibility for their work, helping their teammates and being trusted to get on with the job, you'll fit in well here.
The WorkYour day-to-day work will include:
- Fire alarm installation, servicing, maintenance and fault finding
- CCTV installation, servicing and maintenance
- Intruder alarm installation, servicing and maintenance
- Access control installation, servicing and maintenance
- Reactive faults and repairs
- Planned preventative maintenance
- New installations and general works
- Cable installation, termination and fault finding
- Using electrical test equipment and carrying out associated electrical work
- Completing electronic job sheets, reports and documentation
- Using smartphones, apps and digital job-management systems
- Speaking with customers and representing the company professionally
- Taking part in our paid on-call rota
Systems You'll Come Across
We work with a variety of equipment, including:
Fire Alarms: C-TEC, Apollo and other commonly used systems
Access Control: PAC, Paxton and other commonly used systems
CCTV: Dahua, Hikvision and other commonly used systems
Intruder Alarms: Texecom, Ajax and other commonly used systems.
You don't necessarily need to have worked with every manufacturer on this list, but you must already have good Fire & Security industry knowledge and hands-on experience.
What We Need From YouThis is not an entry-level or trainee position.We're looking for someone who already has the industry knowledge and practical experience to hit the ground running and become a productive member of the team from the outset.
You'll need:
- Previous professional experience within the Fire & Security industry
- Proven experience with installation, servicing, maintenance and fault finding
- A good practical working knowledge of cabling and electrics
- The ability to install, identify, terminate and fault-find cabling
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Confidence using hand tools, test equipment and relevant industry equipment
- The ability to work independently and use your own initiative
- The ability to manage and take responsibility for your own jobs
- The ability to work well with others as part of a small team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Confidence using smartphones, apps and other technology
- Good timekeeping and organisational skills
- A professional, reliable and sensible approach to work
- A full UK driving licence
- Willingness to participate in our paid on-call rota

- £28,000 -£38,000 per year, depending on experience
- 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday
